Dec. 04 is proud owner Mike Bello and is SR20DET  Datsun 510.

 

We've got a really soft place in our hearts for Nissans here.  Especially the old school Datsuns, so it was relatively easy to pick this months winner. 

Mike not only purchased all of the hoses and clamps for his Sr20Det project, he also used our AirRam to introduce

more air into the monster turbo.  Since his success in his build, he has decided to build these cars for his customers and finds himself at the beginning stages of opening a shop.  GOOD LUCK to you Mike and we'll keep the referrals coming!!!

 

  

I have been working on this set up for about 2 1/2 months, mainly on weekends.

"I decided to slap the SR20 when my friend Pat was smoking everyone with his SR20det in his 510. At the time I was running a Built KA24e. So when I got home I tore it down and started doing some research on the SR. At first I was going to go with the N/A SR20 But then I said, "fuck it" and decided to go Turbo. But not just any turbo.  The Garrett GT30R duel ball bearing. From there, one thing led to another. The bigger turbo needed an external wastegate , so I went with the 38mm Tial wastegate.  A bigger turbo meant I needed more fuel. To make a long story short I installed 550cc injectors, Toda flywheel, stage 3 clutch, Greddy type S BOV, Ron Davis radiator, Turbo XS Duel stage boost controller, steel braided lines, Earls oil cooler, and a custom intercooler. The intercooler was a little big for the car. That's when Turbo hoses came in and saved the day with there tight 90 degree couplings. To maximize performance a Microtech standalone ecu should do  the trick. I expect no less than 400+whp. Hope you like the pictures."
